NEW DELHI: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) which conducts some of India’s largest recruitment examinations such as the Combined Graduate Level (CGL), Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL), Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), and Constable General Duty (GD) exams today announced major reforms to further strengthen and modernize the examination process for over millions of candidates across the country.

At a media briefing led by the Chairman of SSC, Shri S. Gopalakrishnan, and attended by dignitaries from EdCIL, RailTel, C-DAC, CBSE the Commission unveiled its AADARSH (Advanced and Dependable Assessment & Resourceful Secured Hub) Pariksha Kendra (APK) initiative. Under this initiative, SSC will seek to conduct its exams in such standardized, secure, computer-enabled, and candidate-friendly examination centres nationwide, ensuring a more transparent and dependable assessment ecosystem. In the forthcoming SSC exams about 8,000 seats under APK are to be engaged.

AADARSH Pariksha Kendras will offer computer-based testing at ISO-certified infrastructure, air-conditioned halls, areas for baggage, secured printing, AI-enabled CCTV surveillance with zero blind spots, specific zones for biometric registration, a centrally monitored command room, on-site technical support, and all with the intention of delivering a smooth and tamper-proof examination experience. 

Additional reforms announced by SSC include over 90% of candidates to get a test centre from among the three choices exercised by them, other candidates to be offered centres within 200 km of candidates’ homes, standardized stationery across all centres, launch of an official SSC YouTube channel for updates and announcements, setting-up a dedicated grievance hub for timely issue resolution operational from the next cycle. These are imperative measures to strengthen SSC’s vision to create a uniform and unified platform that ensures better candidate experience, convenience, speed, examination security and help curb potential malpractices.

Speaking at the event, Shri Gopalakrsihnan, Chairman, Staff Selection Commission said: “Every year, over 2 crore candidates appear for SSC examinations, making it one of the most important gateways to public employment for India’s youth. Our focus remains on ensuring examinations that are fair, transparent, and candidate-friendly. With initiatives like the AADARSH Pariksha Kendra, a dedicated grievance portal we are building a more secure, accessible, and credible exam ecosystem.” 

He further added, “With world-class infrastructure at AADARSH Pariksha Kendra SSC is moving towards ‘SSC 2.0’, a transformation aligned with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, ensuring greater self-reliance and accountability in our operations.”
