JAMMU: Narayana Schools across the country marked Gurupurnima with a heartfelt celebration that beautifully combined tradition and creativity, honouring the vital role teachers play in shaping students’ lives. The day was filled with thoughtful activities that brought together tradition, gratitude, and student-led innovation.
The celebrations began with a special morning assembly featuring a prayer song and student speeches on the significance of Gurupurnima, a day dedicated to expressing gratitude to gurus for their wisdom and blessings. It also marks the birth anniversary of Maharishi Veda Vyasa, author of the Mahabharata, and is observed by Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains. Students also shared the story of Guru Dronacharya from ancient texts, underscoring the timeless reverence for teachers in Indian tradition
One of the most touching moments came when students handed over handwritten letters to their teachers. These personal notes expressed gratitude, admiration, and heartfelt memories, and were warmly received by teachers across all campuses.
Across Narayana Schools’ campuses an interactive workshop was organised between students and teachers. During these sessions, teachers encouraged students to think beyond commonly used AI tools, leading to engaging discussions on the use of AI, AR, VR, and other emerging technologies. They also emphasised the importance of using technology in a balanced way, cautioning against overdependence. Teachers urged students to first think critically and then use these tools to deepen their understanding, highlighting how such innovations can transform the learning experience
To close the day on a funnote, students hosted a light-hearted session for teachers on Gen Z communication trends. They explained how their generation uses slang, emojis, GIFs, voice notes, and memes to communicate, especially in group chats and how these trends influence the way they engage, ask questions, and collaborate during exams.
Mr PuneetKothapa, President of Narayana Educational Institutions, said:
“The Gurupurnima celebrations at Narayana schools were truly heart-warming. From the special assembly and meaningful performances to students personally felicitating their teachers and sharing handwritten letters, every gesture reflected deep respect and gratitude. It was a beautiful reminder of the strong values we uphold, where students honour their mentors not just through words, but through thoughtful actions. Our educators don’t just teach; they guide, uplift, and help turn every student’s dream into reality. Because at Narayana, your dreams are our dreams.”
The celebration served as a meaningful reminder of the enduring bond between students and teachers, and the importance of acknowledging their contributions.
