NEW DELHI: Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) recently organized ESYA 2025, its two-day annual technical festival. Over the years, ESYA has grown into one of the most anticipated student-led festivals in Delhi NCR, providing a unique platform for young innovators, entrepreneurs, and technology enthusiasts to explore ideas, build solutions, and celebrate the power of technology.

The theme for this year, Techmorphosis – The Transformative Power of Technology, reflected the continuous evolution of technology and its role in shaping societies, industries, and the future of humanity. ESYA 2025 aimed to capture this spirit through an exciting line-up of events such as TechnoKick: RoboSoccer, HackIIIT hackathon, and thought-leadership sessions, including the flagship panel ‘Women in Engineering: Breaking Barriers and Building Futures.’ Alongside these, the festival also featured hands-on workshops, exhibitions of student-led projects, and fun engagement events to create a truly immersive experience.

A highlight of this year’s edition was the gracious presence of Hon’ble Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Union Minister of Communications and Minister of Development of North Eastern Region, Government of India. His participation added immense prestige to the festival and inspired students and participants alike. His vision for India’s digital and technological future strongly resonates with the ethos of ESYA.

He also visited the Centre of excellence in Li-Fi and Wirocomm research lab where the students presented state-of-the art technical demonstrations on various themes related to Next generation communications, sustainable communications and AI which are being funded by Telecom Technology Development Fund, scheme launched by Department of Telecommunications (DoT). He also interacted with the PhD research scholars and faculty working on wireless communication.

Sharing his thoughts, Shri Scindia stated, “Whenever I get the opportunity to interact with younger minds, it excites me tremendously. The energy, enthusiasm, and capability of India’s youth are unparalleled across the world. I am truly amazed by what I have witnessed today at IIIT-Delhi, exploring innovative showcase projects and cutting-edge technologies. It is a privilege to be here at ESYA, their annual technical fest.” Drawing upon Bharat’s rich legacy of knowledge, from Aryabhata to Nalanda, he also urged the youth to ‘Be Bold, Be Rooted, and Build for Bharat.’

Prof. Ranjan Bose, Director, IIIT-Delhi, encouraged students to reflect on this year’s theme, “The Transformative Power of Technology,” stressing its importance as India moves towards Atmanirbharta and the vision of becoming a true product nation. He highlighted some of the institute-led demonstrations witnessed by the Hon’ble Minister such as the 5G use case lab, Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces, Li-Fi testbed, and solar panel assisted connectivity, which showed how innovation can make communication affordable, sustainable, and inclusive. These solutions, he noted, demonstrated the cost-effective use of existing infrastructure to bridge the digital divide and connect underserved regions.

This year, ESYA 2025 witnessed an impressive footfall of over 5,000 participants, comprising students, researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs from across the country. The festival also fostered meaningful collaborations with industry partners, underscoring the synergy between academia and industry in driving innovation and creating societal impact.

With its theme Techmorphosis, ESYA 2025 proved to be not just a celebration of technology but also a reflection of creativity, collaboration, and the limitless possibilities that lie ahead in the digital age.
