NEW DELHI: In a historic nationwide initiative, the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shikshak Mahasangh (ABRSM) successfully organized its “Hamara Vidyalaya – Hamara Swabhiman” campaign across more than five lakh schools today. Millions of students and lakhs of teachers from across India recited the five-point pledge in unison, reflecting a shared commitment to education, moral values, and nation-building. The campaign is part of ABRSM’s broader vision, “Hamara Vidyalaya – Hamara Teerth,” aiming to inspire pride, discipline, and responsibility in every school.
At a press conference held in Delhi, Geeta Bhatt, National General Secretary of ABRSM, informed the media about the event, saying, “The primary aim of the ‘Hamara Vidyalaya – Hamara Swabhiman’ campaign is to instill pride, responsibility, and moral values among students and teachers. Education should not only impart knowledge but also shape character, foster social responsibility, and prepare the youth to contribute meaningfully to nation-building.”
She added, “The five pledges emphasize maintaining schools as clean, disciplined, and inspiring spaces; treating school resources as national wealth; ensuring equality and inclusive learning; using education as a tool for character and societal development; and considering the school as a sacred space for service, values, and excellence.”
The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation even in challenging weather conditions, demonstrating the dedication of teachers and students. While some states, including Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, could not conduct the pledge due to adverse weather, in several other regions, students and teachers took the pledge enthusiastically despite rain, symbolizing their unwavering commitment.
Geeta Bhatt further stated, “Despite challenges like rain in several states, the enthusiasm and dedication of teachers and students were truly inspiring. By treating every school as a sacred space of learning and service, we hope to reinforce the values of discipline, equality, and holistic development across the country.”
ABRSM’s historic campaign also drew participation from prominent personalities and leaders, who joined students and teachers in reciting the pledge in multilingual languages, showcasing India’s rich cultural diversity. The event received a massive response from private schools as well, highlighting the inclusive nature of this initiative.
This nationwide pledge marks one of the largest educational movements in independent India, emphasizing the importance of viewing schools not merely as centers of instruction but as pillars of character formation and national pride. ABRSM has called upon all teachers and students to continue the momentum and make every school a center of values, culture, and holistic development, thus contributing to the vision of a developed India by 2047.
