- Refutes claims of irregularities as misleading
RAJOURI: Refuting the allegation of irregularities and delay in the execution of the Water Supply Scheme (WSS) Malhut as claimed in a video circulated on social media, the PHE authorities have termed the assertions as misleading and devoid of factual position on the ground.
The WSS Malhut was allotted under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) to an approved contractor strictly as per the notified procedures. A major portion of the work stands completed, and only minor balance components remain.
The delay in completion is not due to departmental negligence, as claimed, but is solely due to the contractorâs failure to resume the remaining work despite repeated instructions. Multiple noticesâalready on recordâwere issued to the contractor directing immediate resumption of work.
Today, the Executive Engineer PHE summoned the contractor for an on-spot explanation. During the meeting, the contractor submitted a written undertaking, committing to resume the work immediately and complete all remaining components within 15 days. After completion of the balance work, Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) shall be provided, ensuring regular drinking water supply to the residents.
The contents of the video are therefore baseless, incomplete and intended to mislead the public. The department is closely monitoring the progress, and any further lapse by the contractor will invite strict action under the terms and conditions of the contract.
