POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired the quarterly meeting of the Interdepartmental Coordination Committee (IDCC) on births and deaths. The Deputy Commissioner took a comprehensive review of the status of births and deaths registration at 28 registration units operating in the district.

The Registrars (Rural and Urban) briefed the chair regarding the Civil Registration System (CRS) and the online issuance of birth and death certificates. The DC directed the Registrar of District Hospital, SDH Surankote, SDH Mendhar, CHCs and PHCs to ensure 100% issuance of birth certificates to newborn babies before discharge from the hospital. He also directed the CMO, BMOs and Medical Officers to ensure 100% institutional deliveries.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tahir Mustafa Malik, District Statistical and Evaluation Officer, Javaid Ahmed, Chief Medical Officer, Parvaiz Ahmed Khan, Block Medical Officers, Block Development Officers, Medical Officers and representatives of Municipal Council/Committee, Poonch and Surankote.
