- Hands over Financial Assistance to NoK of road accident victims
BARAMULLA: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Minga Sherpa today chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee to review the implementation of road safety measures and the action taken by concerned departments to improve overall road safety across the district. The meeting, held at the main meeting hall of the DC Office was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla, Gurinderpal Singh, Superintending Engineer R&B, Baramulla, ARTO Baramulla and other concerned officers.
The review focused on the Action Taken Report regarding the decisions and directions issued during the previous meeting. Officers presented updated progress on enforcement drives, identification of accident-prone spots, road engineering improvements, and corrective steps taken by their respective departments.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for strict enforcement of traffic rules, timely rectification of deficiencies, improved coordination among departments, and sustained awareness campaigns to reduce road accidents. He urged all departments to strengthen monitoring, ensure timely interventions, and work collectively to enhance safety on district roads.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner, in presence of SSP Baramulla, handed over cheques worth âč1 lakh each to the Next of Kin (NoK) of two individuals who tragically lost their lives in separate road accidents. The assistance was provided under the J&K Road Accident Victim Fund, aimed at offering immediate relief to affected families.
