JAMMU: The Indian Institute of M anagement Jammu under the leadership of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu inaugurated the General Management Programme for Middle Management – Batch II for National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Limited, a prestigious Government of India Navratna enterprise, at the Vedanta MDP Centre, Jagti Campus, on 17th Nov 2025.
Designed exclusively for NHPC, a key driver in India’s hydropower sector, the program aims to strengthen managerial capabilities, leadership effectiveness, strategic thinking, and organizational development among its experienced professionals. By fostering transformational growth and future-ready leadership, the initiative reflects NHPC’s strong commitment to nurturing human capital and advancing national energy goals.
The programme also b reinforces IIM Jammu’s dedication to quality-driven executive education under its Executive Education and Consultancy (EE&C) vertical, underscoring its strategic focus on leadership development, capacity building, and industry collaboration. A total of 20 selected NHPC professionals from across the country are participating, bringing with them diverse experience and enriching the learning environment through their practical insights and perspectives.
The inaugural ceremony was graced byProf. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu; Prof. Sanjeev Pathak, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy (EE&C); Prof. Rajesh Sikka; Dr Jaganth G, Program Directors, IIM Jammu, Programme Directors, IIM Jammu. The inaugural session began with participant registration, followed by a campus tour showcasing the institute’s state-of-the-art facilities, including Smart Classrooms, the Vedanta Executive Education Block, and the Nalanda Library. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp marking the formal commencement of the programme.
Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu, provided an overview of the institute’s journey since its inception in 2016, highlighting its exceptional growth, academic offerings, and commitment to enriching stakeholder experience. He noted that Jammu is the only city in India to host three institutions of national importance and emphasized IIM Jammu’s efforts to design programs that cater to diverse aspirations.As IIM Jammu enters its tenth year, he remarked that the participants are now part of this milestone journey. Citing a philosopher, he reflected on the idea of unfolding one’s potential and encouraged participants to remain open, break myths and barriers, and fully engage with the learning process. He assured them that IIM Jammu provides an open platform and welcomed them to approach for any kind of assistance.
Prof. Sanjeev Pathak, Chairperson, EE and C, highlighted that this is the second batch of the program developed in close collaboration with NHPC. He acknowledged the vision of NHPC’s in strengthening HR and Finance and noted that the program is designed to add value both individually and collectively. He emphasized that it goes beyond training, fostering group development and impactful learning. Reaffirming IIM Jammu’s commitment to quality, he encouraged participants to share feedback, collaborate, and fully engage in the learning experience.
Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Program Director and Co-Chairperson, EE and C, welcomed participants and shared that the program covers diverse domains of general management with a strong focus on experiential learning. He stressed the importance of continuous learning and upskilling and outlined key themes including best practices, digital learning, sustainability, the hydropower sector, leadership, high-performing teams, conflict management, and AI. He added that each day would end with reflective discussions and urged participants to make the most of their time at IIM Jammu.
Dr Jaganth G, Program Director, IIM Jammu proposed thevote of thanks, acknowledging the support of NHPC Limited, faculty, and the organizing team.During the inaugural session, participants introduced themselves and shared their expectations, fostering interaction and peer learning. The inaugural ceremony culminated with the National Anthem, followed by a group photograph.
The week-long programme features power-packed sessions with IIM Jammu faculty, integrating case studies, simulations, leadership exercises, and strategic discussions to build robust managerial capabilities. Coordinated by the Executive Education and Consultancy (EE&C) vertical of IIM Jammu, the programme reflects the institute’s unwavering commitment to developing future-ready leaders for India’s growth-oriented public sector enterprises through meaningful industry–academia collaboration.
