JAMMU: A Seminar cum Awareness program on sexual harassment policies was organised today by CASH of Government Degree College Akhnoor under the patronage of the college Principal Dr Romilla Malla Bhatt.
The objective of the program was to sensitize students and faculty about the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful environment within the campus. The event started with a formal welcome by convener CASH Dr Monika Malhotra. She apprised the students and staff about the program, besides highlighting the challenges women and girls face at the workplace and institutions. She also talked about the importance of POSH Act to ensure their safety and to work with dignity in an environment free of harassment.
Six students Komal, Tamanna Sharma, Ritika Sharma (Sem 3rd) and Nisha Sharma, Radhika Sharma, Ritika Sharma (Sem 1st) representing different departments of the college spoke on the subject. The event was well attended by 52 participants and 15 faculty members. The program concluded with an interactive session where the participants shared their thoughts, asked questions and discussed measures to prevent harassment.
The students were encouraged to stay informed, speak up and stand together against misconduct. The Committee members Dr Shashi Sharma, Dr Deepali Mahajan, Dr.Rajiv Katoch, Dr Pinky Manhas, Prof. Anjela Qureshi, Prof. Shreya Sharma, Prof. Suresh Kumar and Dr Rimjhim also interacted with the participants. Other faculty members present on the occasion were Prof. Neeru Dalla, Dr. Anju Bala, Dr. Seema Kumari, Dr. Neha Uttam & Dr.Esha Kumari Verma.
