KATRA: The NCC and NSS units of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) participated in the valedictory function of the first phase of celebrations marking the 150th year of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’, held at M.A. Stadium, Jammu.The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with more than 20,000 students and citizens coming together to participate in the mass singing of ‘Vande Mataram’, creating a truly patriotic and inspiring atmosphere.

The grand celebration was organised by the Department of Culture, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, as part of the year-long commemoration honouring the timeless legacy of Bankim Chandra Chatterjee’s immortal creation.Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Registrar, Dr. Varun Dutta, NCC Officer, and Dr. Rajiv Kumar, NSS Coordinator, accompanied the NCC cadets and NSS volunteers during the event.

Their presence and active participation reflected the University’s ongoing commitment to fostering national spirit and cultural pride among its students.The occasion was graced by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, who, in his address, emphasized that every section of society must carry forward the ideas and ideals of Bankim Chandra that inspired India’s freedom struggle and use its spirit to take the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir forward into a brighter future.
