JAMMU: Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabah Bahu Fort, Jammu in collaboration with Savitri Bai Phule Educational Trust celebrated Constitution Day also known as Samvidhan Divas. The Constituent Assembly adopted Constitution on 26 November 1949 and it was implemented on 26th Jan. 1950. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on 19th November 2015 notified the decision of Govt. of India to celebrated 26th November every year as “Constitution Day” to promote Constitution Values.
Sham Lal Basson, General Secretary SGRD Sabha Bahu Fort, Jammu Madam Sunita Bangotra - Chairperson Savitri Bai Phule Educational Trust Jammu and Sh. R. L. Bangotra – M.D Savitri Bai Phule Modern School Dolian Co-ordiated to organise “Know you Constitution” Competitive Exam in different schools/Institutions of Jammu and Reasi Districts.
The function started with Buddh Vandana performed by students of Savitri Bai Phule Modern School Dolian Bari Brahmanan which was followed by Speeches by students of different school of Jammu district regarding different provisions of Constitution of India. First cash prize amounting to Rs. 4000/- was provided to Krishma Student of MSN Hr. Sec. School, Arnia, 2nd prize mounting to Rs. 3000/- was given to student of Renu National Hr Sec. School Tanda namely Anshjeet Kainth (R. S. Pura) and 3rd Prize was given to Payal 10th class student of Dr. Ambedkar Convent School Bamnal Kothey.
While speaking on this occasion Sham Lal Basson said that constitution Day reminds us to respect and serve constitution which is a holy book for Indians. It is observed every year this day. This day has special importance for all citizens as the day teaches us to learn about our Right and Duties as well as showing respect and regards to the Constitution. Bharat Rattan Baba Saheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar has kept provisions in the constitution for every section of society specially Labour class, women, children, down trodden people. He is fondly known as Father of Indian Constitution. He said this day aims to mark the significance of Constitutional values among citizens and also to bring awareness of importance of constitution and people and its chief Architect Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
The Columbia University of America described Baba as “The Great Scholar of the World and Oxford University described Baba as “The Universe Maker” It is a matter of pride that statue of Baba Saheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was inaugurated at Head Office of UNESCO at Paris in France on 26th Nov. 2025. While addressing the gathering Madam Sunita Bangotra, Chairperson Savitri Bai Phule Educational Trust said that more than 600 students of different school/institutions of Jammu and Reasi district participated in “Know your constitution” Competitive Exam.
She said that meritorious students of MSN Hr. Sec. School Arnia, RNHSS Tanda, Dr. Ambedkar Convent School Bamnal, Govt. HRSS Bahu Fort, Sunshine PS, R. S Pura, Indira PS R.S. Pura, GHS Qasim Nagar, Kranti Jyoti Savitiri Bahi Phule Pathshala Mishriwala, K. C. Domana, JMHS Adhlehar, GPS HSS, Reasi, Little Star High School Gorkh Nagar were felicitated on this occasion. She said that Indian Constitution is the largest constitution of World. M. R. Bangotra Retd. CEO was honoured for Retirement Silver Jubilee Anniversary. He is noted educationalist and Social activist.
Sunita Bangotra said that all Principals of schools who participated in the function were honoured. Dr. Vijay Shivgotra President Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Bahu Fort, Jammu extended vote of thanks. He disclosed that students should know the constitutional provision particularly fundamental rights and duties enshrined in the constitution of India. There are sufficient articles regarding welfare of students such as right to education etc.
Those who paid rich tributes to Baba Saheb included Sh. R. L. Bangotra Retd Agri. Officer and M. D. Savitiri Bai Bhule Moderen Shcool Dolian, C. L. Banal – Retd. IGP, Vikas Kalsi, Sham Lal Kalsi, Rajesh Kumar, Retd SSP Vidhya Sagar Kundal, B. D. Thapa, S. M. Jangral- Retd. S.P., Bahadur Lal Ex President Saryara Sabha, Baldev Raj Nargotra – Chariman BDC, Pritam Shivgotra – Principal RNHSS, Tanda R. S. Pura, Suresh Kundal, Principal Dr. Ambedkar Convent School, Neelam Sikh – Incharge Krantijyoti Savitir Bai Phule Pathshala, M.S. N. Hr. Sec. School Arnia, F. C. Satia – President AIBCF, Er. Safara Sabeb, Kulbir Singh - Presidnt Dogra Sabha Bahu Fort, Suresh Bangotra, Samaksh Basson read the pledge (Preamble) which was followed by all the participants. Nasib Sambyal, Neelam Sambyal, Master Tara Chand Retd. ZEO also paid tributes.
Very good message was conveyed to students and their parents regarding menace of drug addiction through Nukad Natak play by Durga Nukad Natak. The student should remain away from drug addiction. Many students are involved in drug addiction and are spoiling their life. Crimes are increasing day by day due to drug addiction. All Principals of schools who participated in the function were honoured with Preamble of Constitution.
