KATRA: The School of Computer Science and Engineering (SoCSE), Shri Mata VaishnoDevi University (SMVDU), Katra, organized a National Workshop on “EthicalHacking and Social Engineering” aimed at providing hands-on exposure to thestudents of B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) in the fast-evolvingdomain of cybersecurity.The workshop featured Dr. Keshav Kaushik, Associate Professor, ShardaUniversity, as the Resource Person, who conducted highly interactive and practicalsessions on ethical hacking methodologies, penetration testing, and socialengineering techniques.
Dr. Kaushik engaged students in real-time demonstrationsof cybersecurity tools and explained various ways to identify, prevent, and mitigatedigital threats.The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Rohit Tanwar, Dr. Archana Purwar, and Dr.Vipal Kumar, faculty members of the School of Computer Science and Engineering.The coordinators highlighted that the primary objective of the workshop was toenhance students’ awareness of cybersecurity challenges and empower them withpractical knowledge to ethically secure digital systems.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of the B.TechCSE and B.Tech Mathematics andComputing programs. Participants expressedappreciation for the engaging content, live demonstrations, and interactive approachadopted during the sessions.The Vice-Chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Prof. Pragati Kumar,congratulated the organizing team for conducting a workshop on such a relevant andcontemporary theme.
He emphasized that cybersecurity awareness is critical intoday’s digital era and appreciated the efforts of the School of Computer Science andEngineering for continually striving to bridge the gap between theoretical learningand practical application.The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Rohit Tanwar, expressinggratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, resource person, faculty members,and participants for their active involvement and contributions to the success of theworkshop.
