KULGAM: As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), a rally was today organised at Kulgam, flagged off by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kulgam. The rally commenced from the Mini Secretariat (DC Office) Kulgam and culminated at the Drug De-addiction Centre Kulgam, aiming to spread awareness against drug abuse and encourage youth to stay away from substance addiction.
The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, staff members, and representatives of various institutions. Participants carried placards and raised slogans promoting a drug-free society. The rally moved through the main market areas of Kulgam, drawing public attention and reinforcing the message of “Say No to Drugs.”
The event was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kulgam, Viqar Ahmed Giri, ACD, Bilal Ahmad Kamgar, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Kulgam, Sonabar Altaf and other officers also participated in the event and appreciated the collective efforts of students, teachers, and staff in combating the menace of drug abuse.
Alongside the rally, an awareness programme was organised at the Conference-cum-Auditorium Hall of the Mini Secretariat, where students, teachers, and staff members participated actively. A pledge-taking ceremony was also held, reaffirming commitment towards building a drug-free society.
Addressing the gathering, the officers stressed the importance of community-based awareness, early intervention, counselling, and cooperation from all sections of society to realise the vision of a Nasha Mukht Bharat.
They highlighted the vital role of youth in shaping a healthier and more responsible society. The rally concluded at the Drug De-addiction Centre Kulgam, where participants were briefed about the available facilities for counselling, rehabilitation, and support for individuals affected by substance abuse.
