SRINAGAR: Jammu & Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB), District Office Srinagar, organized an Awareness-cum-Interaction Programme today at Chatterhama Hazratbal, Srinagar. The event was attended by Director RSETI Srinagar, Ex-Muncipal Coounsellor Chatterhama, HeadMaster Government Girls School Chatterhama, senior officials from J&K KVIB, representatives from Banks, and other officials from allied departments.
The programme aimed to inform and sensitize the rural unemployed educated youth, aspiring entrepreneurs, artisans, beekeepers and other stakeholders from Block Hazratbal and adjoining areas about self-employment opportunities and schemes such as PMEGP and JKREGP. Participants received guidance on project formulation, loan procedures, and available government support.
Addressing the gathering, the District Officer KVIB Srinagar, highlighted financial assistance schemes, employment generation programs, technical training and marketing support available to rural entrepreneurs from J&K KVIB. Further, Director RSETI highlighted the training programs offered by the agency for up-liftment/knowledge of the interesting beneficiaries.
District Officer KVIB also shared performance highlights, noting that in 2024–25, 322 PMEGP cases were disbursed involving Rs 507.90 lakh in margin money, generating 1,932 jobs, while 12 JKREGP cases were disbursed with Rs 28 lakh in margin money, creating 96 rural employment opportunities.
The event witnessed active participation from local gathering interested in modernizing and expanding their livelihoods. The initiative reaffirms J&K KVIB’s commitment to promoting rural entrepreneurship, strengthening village industries, and supporting sustainable economic development. The programme concluded with the distribution of informational material and registration guidelines.
