- Appeal to launch Anti-Drug awareness campaigns in Mosques, Khanqahs, Colleges, Schools, and Universities
SRINAGAR: To establish a disciplined, enlightened, and morally upright society, it is imperative that the younger generation advance in both knowledge and action, guided by principles of moral and spiritual reform. Throughout history, the Prophets sent by Allah, including the Mercy to Mankind, Prophet Muhammad ï·ș along with the purified and pious Sufi saints, not only structured societies on divine and ethical foundations but also purified human civilization from corruption and adorned it with intellectual, spiritual, and practical wisdom.
These profound remarks were delivered by Chief of Karwani Islami International, Peer-e-Tariqat Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, while addressing thousands of devoted lovers of the Prophet ï·ș at Central Jamia Masjid, Bidar Kokernag. He highlighted that the rising consumption of alcohol and narcotics has unleashed devastating social, moral, and health consequences severely affecting not only the Kashmir Valley but the entire nation.
He stressed that narcotics and intoxicants not only destroy the physical health of an individual but also consume mental peace, disrupt domestic harmony, weaken social relations, and ruin the future of the youth. Medical experts, he noted, have confirmed that alcohol and drugs severely damage the liver, brain, heart, and human nervous system. âAll forms of social crime, domestic violence, poverty, and moral decline stem largely from this destructive epidemic,â he said.
Appealing directly to the youth, Allama Hami urged them to take a proactive role in safeguarding themselves, their families, and their society from this sinful and destructive menace. He called upon parents, teachers, scholars, social organizations, mosques, khanqahs, educational institutions, colleges, and universities to collectively acknowledge their moral duty and make the campaign against drugs and alcohol an integral part of their social responsibility thereby contributing to the creation of a morally strong, healthy, and progressive society.
He further urged the government to consider it both a human and ethical obligation to impose a complete ban on the production, sale, and consumption of alcohol and drugs, ensuring a safe and secure future for the coming generations. âIslam,â he asserted, âcategorically prohibits all those substances that impair intellect or harm the body and soul.â
He reminded that the pious predecessors the saints (Auliya Allah) and Sufis throughout every era, upheld the sanctity of ethics and spirituality by distancing humanity from hundreds of evils, particularly âUmm-ul-Khabaithâ (the mother of all evils is alcohol). Their mission was not confined to religious boundaries alone; it was equally aimed at preserving the sanctity and dignity of human values.
Allama Hami concluded by emphasizing that the time has come to present the life and noble character of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ï·ș before the modern world as a timeless and practical guide for those who have drifted away from faith and morality. âHatred and extremism,â he cautioned, âyield nothing but destruction, despair, and decline giving rise to poverty, social chaos, and moral decay.â
