SRINAGAR: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Sartaj Ahmad Shah today flagged off a group of progressive farmers for an exposure visit to outside the Valley under the Promotion of Floriculture Project. The visit aimed to acquaint the participating farmers with the latest technologies, best practices, and market linkages in the field of commercial floriculture.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director Agriculture emphasized the importance of floriculture as an emerging sector with immense potential for employment generation and income enhancement. He said that the department is committed to promoting floriculture as a sustainable agri-enterprise in the region, and such exposure visits play a vital role in equipping farmers with new skills and practical knowledge.

The farmers will be visiting leading flower production and marketing centers during their tour, where they will interact with experts, entrepreneurs, and fellow growers to gain hands-on experience in modern cultivation, packaging, and marketing techniques. The Director expressed hope that the exposure visit would encourage participants to adopt innovative practices and contribute to the growth of floriculture in Kashmir. Chief Agriculture officers Naseer Ahmad Khan and other senior officers of the department associated with the project were also present during the flag-off ceremony. Later, Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar, alongwith Mushroom Development officer Srinagar also flagged off farmer's exposure visit of mushroom growers.
