KUPWARA: A review meeting of the District Level Task Force (DLTF) for the elimination of Measles-Rubella (MR) and strengthening of routine immunization was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, at the Conference Hall of the DC Office, Kupwara. During the meeting, Dr. Ashiq Rashid, WHO Head of Kashmir, delivered an in-depth presentation highlighting the current measles-rubella situation, progress indicators, immunization gaps, and strategies required to achieve full coverage in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner conducted a detailed analysis of the districtâs performance under the MR elimination initiative and routine immunization programme. He reviewed block-wise data, identified areas requiring urgent attention, and emphasized the need for coordinated efforts at all administrative and health-care levels.
Issuing clear directives to all Block Medical Officers (BMOs), the Deputy Commissioner instructed them to significantly scale up vaccination activities within one month. He stressed the importance of intensifying outreach sessions, ensuring adequate vaccine supply, mobilizing field staff, and enhancing community awareness to bridge any remaining immunization gaps. The meeting was attended by Dy CMO Kupwara, MS GMC Handwara, MS SDH Kupwara, BMOs, and other stakeholders involved in implementing district immunization activities.
