ANANTNAG: A comprehensive one day training cum capacity building program for the resource persons under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) was held today at Khanabal, Anantnag, oganised by District Administration in collaboration with Govt Medical College Anantnag. The session was presided over by Additional District Magistrate and attended by HoD Psychiatry, GMC, senior doctors, Tehsildars, and other concerned officials from various colleges of the district.
The programme aimed at strengthening the capacity of frontline administrative and academic functionaries in effectively addressing the issue of substance abuse across the district.
On the occasion, HoD Psychiatry, GMC, provided an in-depth briefing on causes, types and prevalence, precautionary measures, early signs along with the prevention and treatment of drug abuse adding there is need for coordination among administration, educational institutions, health authorities and community members for eradicating the menace from society.
The session underlined the importance of proactive community engagement, timely reporting, and institutional support to mitigate drug-related challenges. Addressing the session, ADM urged the participants to adopt a sensitive, preventive, and structured approach while dealing with drug-affected individuals in their respective jurisdictions. At the conclusion, an interactive questionâanswer session was held on multiple aspects of drug abuse, field-level challenges and practical intervention techniques.
