JAMMU : The Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) Jammu successfully organized a three-day training-cum-workshop for lab technicians of Jammu Division at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar. The programme was aimed at enhancing the technical skills and field readiness of participants in disease surveillance and public health response. The training featured hands-on workshops, expert lectures and interactive sessions focusing on best practices in laboratory techniques, data management and effective communication for disease surveillance.

Participants were trained in the latest diagnostic tools and methodologies designed to strengthen their capacity for monitoring and controlling infectious diseases. The curriculum covered advanced laboratory techniques, surveillance methodologies and data management —all key components required for robust public health monitoring.

The sessions were conducted by expert facilitators from IDSP, providing participants with practical exposure and enabling them to apply the techniques learned in real-world scenarios. The participants expressed appreciation for the training, noting that it significantly enhanced their technical competencies and understanding of disease surveillance mechanisms.

The inaugural session was chaired by Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar, Director health Services, Jammu in presence of Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Dy. Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Harjeet Rai, Epidemiologist/SSO IDSP Jammu; Dr. Narinder Bhutyal, Medical Superintendent Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Hospital, Jammu.
