JAMMU: A two-day farmers’ training programme on “Scientific Sheep Farming Practices” was organized by the Sheep & Wool Development Office Marwah at Sheep Breeding Farm Daksum and KVK Dooru, Anantnag.
The programme aimed to enhance the technical knowledge of sheep farmers with focus on scientific breeding, feeding, housing, and disease management, enabling them to improve flock productivity and profitability. Around 25 farmers from Marwah and Warwan areas participated enthusiastically in the training.
Expert lectures and field demonstrations were delivered by Dr. Qysheed (Deputy Director, Sheep Breeding Farm Daksum), Dr. NasirManzoor (VAS, SBF Daksum), Dr. Shakir (VAS, Inshan), Dr. Umar (VAS, Sounder Dachan) and Dr. Asif Ali Ganie (Sheep Development Officer, Marwah).
Scientist, KVK Dooru Anantnag Dr. Rayies Ul Islam also delivered an informative lecture on Breeding Management in Sheep. The sessions focused on scientific breeding strategies, disease prevention, nutritional management and improved housing practices for sheep.
SDO Marwah Dr. Asif Ali Ganie educated the farmers about scientific management practices and highlighted the Department’s initiatives for uplifting the sheep sector in the region. He appreciated the role of Sheep Breeding Farm Daksum in producing superior crossbred stock suited to local conditions.
