SOPORE: J&K Police organised an awareness programme on the New Criminal Laws at Government Higher Secondary School Behrampora with the aim of educating students about the key legal reforms introduced under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (BSA) which have replaced the Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act respectively.

The event focused on enhancing students’ understanding of the reformed legal framework, their rights and duties as responsible citizens, and the importance of awareness in promoting justice and accountability.

During the session, officers from J&K Police delivered informative lectures on the salient features and practical aspects of the new laws. The programme also included an interactive session where students actively participated, sharing their views and raising questions on the implementation of the new legal provisions.

J&K Police reaffirmed its commitment to promoting legal literacy and civic awareness through sustained engagement with educational institutions. Such initiatives aim to empower youth with legal knowledge, foster responsible citizenship, and build a society based on law, justice, and mutual respect.
