- Listens to grievances of inmates, orders immediate redressal
RAJOURI: Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Rajouri Rajinder Sapru, Sub-Judge/Secretary DLSA Shama Shamra and Chief Prosecuting Officer Shaheen Khan along with LADCs team today inspected District Jail here at Dhangri.
During the visit, the Chairman and Secretary interacted with the jail inmates and listened to their grievances. Around 25 inmates (under trials) put forth their grievances before the Chairman. The Superintendent was directed to forward the list of grievances to the office of the District Legal Services Authority Rajouri in writing for doing the needful.
Earlier, the Chairman went around the Jail premises and inspected the civic amenities and cleanliness. The barracks and the surroundings were found very clean and tidy. The floor of the barracks was also found clean. The Jail Superintendent informed the Chairman that presently there are 252 prisoners (231 male and 21 female) in the jail against the capacity of 152. He said that the male prisoners are accommodated in 5 barracks and females in one Barrack, which is separate.
Meanwhile, the District Legal Services Authority, under the directions of Chairman Rajinder Sapru and guidance of Sub-Judge /Secretary Shama Sharma organized an awareness camp and Street Play (Nukkad Natak) to generate public awareness about the upcoming National Lok Adalat scheduled on December 13, 2025."
The event was held in collaboration with National Public School in the premises of the District Court Complex. The programme was attended by all judicial officers, Bar members, LADCs, PLVs and general Public. The Nukkad Natak was presented by students, spreading awareness about the significance of Lok Adalat in delivery of justice.
