The Survival Fight of JK Monitor: For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.). His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. JAMMU: Director Animal Husbandry Jammu (DAHJ) today reviewed the physical and financial progress of departmental schemes and activities across Jammu Division here at a meeting held in the Conference Hall of the Directorate.

The meeting was attended by Chief Animal Husbandry Officers of Jammu Division and the Livestock Development Officer- the Nodal Officer for Pashu Aushadhi Vikray Kendras (PAVKs). The officers reviewed the status of ongoing activities, discussed implementation-related issues and deliberated on measures required for timely progress under the respective components.

The meeting took stock of regular schemes being implemented under UT CAPEX; HADP projects, including P23, P25 and P28 components; construction works under UT CAPEX, SASCI, HADP and NABARD; operationalisation of Pashu Aushadhi Vikray Kendras (PAVKs) under CSS-LHDCP.

Emphasis was laid on close monitoring of physical and financial achievements, timely execution of approved activities and coordination among field officers and the Directorate to address implementation bottlenecks.

The officers also discussed the progress of construction works and the steps required for making PAVKs operational in accordance with the programme guidelines. The Director stressed the importance of effective implementation of departmental schemes and directed the concerned officers to maintain regular follow-up, ensure proper documentation and accord due priority to the objectives and timelines of each programme.

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
