The Survival Fight of JK Monitor: For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.). His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. We appeal to well-wishers to extend a helping hand to keep our active newsroom alive. Support Us: WhatsApp: +91-9906103001 | Email: journalistajmerwani@gmail.com

JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Vikas Kundal, along with Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone Tejinder Singh,  chaired a meeting to review the arrangements made by district administrations and concerned departments for the smooth and peaceful celebration of the forthcoming festival of Diwali.

During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held on various aspects of the festive arrangements, with a focus on the availability of essential civil supplies, security arrangements, traffic management, connectivity and civic amenities to facilitate the public.

Divisional Commissioner and Inspector General of Police sought detailed feedback from district administrations and Heads of Departments regarding the preparedness and arrangements being put in place for the festival.

Divisional Commissioner directed all officers to ensure visible presence of the administration on the ground and maintain close coordination among departments for prompt redressal of public issues.

The Fire and Emergency Services Department was directed to ensure the availability of fire tenders at designated locations, particularly near firecracker sale points, to deal with any emergency situation. The Legal Metrology Department was directed to conduct regular checks in shops while ensuring that shopkeepers are not unnecessarily harassed.

Emphasising food safety during the festive season, the Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned department to maintain strict vigil against the sale of adulterated and substandard food items, reiterating zero tolerance towards fake and unsafe food products.

He stressed that all departments must work in close coordination and ensure that necessary arrangements are in place well in advance so that people can celebrate Diwali in a safe, peaceful and hassle-free atmosphere.
