JAMMU: Minister for Health and Medical Education and Social Welfare, Sakeena Itoo has extended warm greetings to the people on the joyous occasion of Diwali. In her greetings, the Minister said that Diwali, the festival of lights, symbolises the triumph of good over evil, hope over despair and knowledge over ignorance. She said the festival carries a timeless message of peace, compassion, harmony and mutual respect, which continues to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and communal harmony in society.

The Minister expressed hope that the festival would usher in peace, prosperity, happiness and well-being for all, while inspiring people to uphold the values of love, tolerance and togetherness. The Minister wished that the festival of Diwali brings renewed hope, good health and prosperity to every household across Jammu and Kashmir.

When he appointed me Editor-in-Chief of JK Monitor, he never treated me as an employee, but as a younger brother, offering warmth, trust, respect and invaluable guidance. I will always be grateful for his faith in me, his encouragement and the lessons he shared.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
