The Survival Fight of JK Monitor: For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.). His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. We appeal to well-wishers to extend a helping hand to keep our active newsroom alive. Support Us: WhatsApp: +91-9906103001 | Email: journalistajmerwani@gmail.com

JAMMU: The Extension and Publicity Wing of the   Animal Husbandry department today concluded its awareness drive in  Doda and Kishtwar districts. During the drive, the Publicity team organised awareness seminars at village Bheja in Bhaderwah and Kishtwar to generate awareness among the livestock farmers about the departmental initiatives and activities.

Extension Officer Dr. Suresh Kumar sensitised the farmers to the benefits provided under various government initiatives and encouraged them to make effective use of the facilities and services being extended by the department. The sessions provided an opportunity for interaction, exchange of information and clarification of queries raised by the participants.

Special emphasis was also laid on the ‘1962’ veterinary helpline, which provides assistance to livestock owners in case of veterinary emergencies and facilitates access to timely animal healthcare and treatment services. Farmers were encouraged to make use of the facility whenever emergency veterinary assistance is required.

The participants were also sensitised to the initiative for opening Pashu Aushadhi Vikray Kendras (PAVKs), on an operating margin of twenty percent on MRP, thereby facilitating access to essential generic veterinary medicines for livestock farmers at affordable costs.

VAS Publicity Wing Dr. Sandeep Kumar spoke extensively on the prevention and control of the diseases affecting livestock. He emphasised the importance of timely vaccination, regular health monitoring, proper animal husbandry practices and early identification of disease symptoms to prevent outbreaks and minimise economic losses to farmers. Dr. Bisma and Dr. Kashish Khan highlighted various aspects of livestock healthcare and departmental activities.
