The Survival Fight of JK Monitor : For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.), who treated me like a brother and mentor. His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. JAMMU: Slamming the Congress and its opposition allies for orchestrating a deliberate campaign of misinformation against the Election Commission and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, BJP National Vice President Ram Madhav said that a politically desperate opposition, unable to win the confidence of voters through democratic means, was attempting to manufacture unrest and destabilize the country through false propaganda. He asserted that the Congress's politics of confusion, confrontation and institutional distrust would not succeed in India.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, along with J&K BJP General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra, Baldev Singh Billawaria and Gopal Mahajan, Chief Spokesperson Sr. Adv. Sunil Sethi, and Media Incharge Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, Madhav said that the Election Commission had presented its position, supported by facts, before the Supreme Court through an affidavit, clearly demonstrating the fairness and transparency of the electoral revision process.

Ram Madhav said the SIR exercise, being undertaken after nearly two decades, was a legitimate democratic process in which Booth Level Officers were conducting door-to-door verification to ensure the accuracy and integrity of electoral rolls and identify illegal entries, including those of foreign nationals residing illegally in India.

Madhav said that the Congress wanted illegal voters to remain on electoral rolls because its political calculations depended on manipulating the electoral environment. He said the opposition's repeated allegations against constitutional institutions were part of a larger conspiracy to create street unrest and engineer political instability, drawing parallels with developments in neighbouring Bangladesh and Nepal. However, he asserted that India's strong democratic foundations and politically conscious electorate would never allow such designs to succeed.

Taking the Congress head-on over its own history, Madhav recalled that Indira Gandhi's election had been declared void by the Allahabad High Court, exposing the Congress's own record on electoral integrity. Referring to Jammu and Kashmir, he also recalled the widespread electoral irregularities associated with the 1987 Assembly elections, which contributed to deep public alienation and the subsequent rise of terrorism. He questioned the Congress's moral authority to lecture others on electoral democracy while remaining answerable for its own political legacy.

Mocking the opposition's allegations against EVMs, battery functioning and alleged electoral manipulation, Madhav said the Congress had repeatedly failed to substantiate its claims. He said the opposition's demand to return to ballot papers was equally revealing, pointing to the Congress's poor electoral performance in recent ballot-paper elections.

Madhav also described the joint opposition rally at Ramlila Maidan, Delhi, as a political flop, saying the gathering of 23 opposition parties had failed to demonstrate the public support they claimed to enjoy. He said the successive electoral victories of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, 2019 and 2024 reflected the people's continued confidence in his leadership.

He asserted that the BJP would firmly counter the Congress's misinformation campaign with facts and expose every attempt to weaken democratic institutions, adding that India's democracy would prevail over the politics of anarchy.
