DODA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Doda Harvinder Singh today chaired an important meeting with the Chamber of Commerce & Industry in the Conference Hall DC Office Complex. The meeting was convened to review public issues, demands and grievances raised by the business community and to chart out a coordinated plan for improving civic and commercial infrastructure in the town.
During the interaction, members of the business community highlighted several concerns, including lack of parking space, unabetted wrong parking, issues related to GST and water pipe leakages in the town. They further demanded access to loan subsidy schemes, road maintenance and blacktopping of interior roads in the town. They also sought commissioning of the New Bus Stand and expediting the Nehru Chowk pathway work.
The traders further sought concrete measures to maintain cleanliness in the town, de-silting of drainage network, auction of the old slaughterhouse, measures against stray dog menace in view of rising dog-bite incidents, eviction of encroachments and the relocation of rehri walas to de-congest the market area.
The DC urged the business community to propose a suitable location for rehabilitating street vendors to ensure smooth traffic movement and better town management. He assured the delegation that priority components of the New Bus Stand will be completed at the earliest for public convenience, while remaining work will continue without hindering ongoing execution. He also stressed on enforcement measures to curb wrong parking and encroachments and emphasized the need for collective efforts to maintain urban orderliness.
The meeting was attended by ADC Anil Kumar Thakur; DPO ICDs Akhtar Hussain Qazi; CPO Manesh Kumar Manhas and members of the business community. The Chamber of Commerce & Industry participated under the leadership of its President Mairaj Khalid Banday. The DC appreciated the constructive feedback from the association and reiterated the administration's commitment to resolving public and trader-related issues in a time-bound manner.
