RAJOURI: In a significant initiative to promote local apiculture and enhance market appeal of indigenous products, the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma, alongwith General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Ace of Spades Division, Maj Gen Kaushik Mukherji, today launched the newly upgraded packaging for pure honey produced under the Apiculture Development Scheme.

The launch ceremony was held at ALG Ground coinciding with Rajouri Day celebrations. The Chief Agriculture Officer and other officers were also present. The upgraded packaging has been introduced to meet modern consumer preferences, improve product presentation and ensure better preservation of quality and freshness.

The departmental honey is now available in premium glass bottles of 250 ml, 500 ml and 1-litre capacities, featuring improved labelling and enhanced packaging standards. The new design not only gives the product a more attractive and professional appearance but also ensures hygiene and longer shelf life.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the immense potential of the apiculture sector in boosting rural livelihoods and strengthening the local economy. He emphasized that such initiatives will help in promoting locally produced honey and provide better market access to beekeepers of the district.

The initiative is in line with the Government of Jammu & Kashmir’s continued efforts to strengthen the apiculture sector and support farmers through value addition and branding. It also aligns with the objectives of the National Beekeeping & Honey Mission, which focuses on modern processing, scientific beekeeping practices and capacity building of farmers. The upgraded packaging is expected to enhance consumer confidence and create wider market opportunities for the high-quality departmental honey produced in Rajouri.
