SOPORE: As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, police in Sopore intensified anti-drug awareness efforts by organising outreach programmes at multiple locations across the district.
A drug awareness programme was conducted at Police Station Panzalla under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad, which witnessed active participation from local residents. The campaign focused on sensitising the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of collective action in building a drug-free society.
Participants were informed about the serious health risks, social consequences and legal implications associated with drug addiction and trafficking. Emphasis was laid on the role of families and communities in guiding youth towards education and constructive activities.
In a similar initiative, Police Post Putkha organised an awareness programme at The Heritage High School Hygam, where students and staff were sensitised about the dangers of drug abuse and encouraged to adopt a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
These programmes saw active participation from students, youth, elders and members of civil society, who expressed concern over the growing menace of drugs and pledged their support in combating it.
Police reiterated their commitment to sustained awareness, community engagement and strict enforcement under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, aimed at safeguarding the future of the youth and building a healthier society.
