JAMMU: A historic MoU was signed between Prof BS Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu and Dr Vijay Agarwal, President, CAHO, during CAHO's Annual Conference on 11 April '26, attended by over 2500 delegates and in the presence of Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Former Vice President of India.

Prof. Shakti Gupta, Honorary Distinguished Professor, IIM Jammu; Lt Gen Sunil Kant, Chairperson MBA Health Care, IIM, Jammu; Dr. Lallu Joseph, General Secretary CAHO; Mr. Ezequiel Garcia Elorrio, President and Board Member ISQua; and other dignitaries.

This is likely to result in joint synergies. It marks a significant milestone in strengthening healthcare management, and this partnership will drive academic excellence, research, executive education, MDPs, and case-based learning in healthcare, creating future-ready leaders and promoting patient safety & digital transformation. Aligned with Viksit Bharat@2047, it fosters skilled workforce development, knowledge exchange, and broader societal impact. 

This strategic partnership aims to build a robust ecosystem for capacity building, academic excellence, and research in healthcare management, with a focus on quality, patient safety, and digital transformation. The collaboration will facilitate joint certification programs, Management Development Programs (MDPs), executive education, research initiatives, conferences, and case-based learning in the healthcare domain. 

Under the MoU, IIM Jammu will lead academic design, curriculum development, evaluation, and certification, while CAHO will leverage its extensive network of healthcare institutions to support training, internships, placements, and industry integration. The partnership will also enable national and international internship and placement opportunities for MBA (healthcare) students. 

Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, stated that this collaboration marks a significant step towards bridging academia and industry in a sector as critical as healthcare. He expressed his deep appreciation to Prof. K. Ganapathy, Honorary Distinguished Professor, IIM Jammu, and Dr. Lallu Joseph, Secretary General of CAHO, for their initiative and efforts in getting the MoU formally signed.

He emphasized that IIM Jammu remains committed to nurturing future-ready leaders equipped with strategic thinking, innovation, and a strong sense of societal responsibility. He stated that the collaboration will benefit stakeholders at large and contribute positively to society. He further highlighted that the partnership will catalyze capacity building, promote cutting-edge research, and strengthen healthcare systems.

Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Gupta, Honorary Distinguished Professor, IIM Jammu, noted that such collaborations are instrumental in transforming healthcare delivery through informed leadership and policy-driven approaches. He emphasized that the convergence of management education and healthcare expertise will foster innovation, strengthen governance frameworks, and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare institutions in India.

During the interaction of Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, and Prof. Shakti Gupta, Honorary Distinguished Professor, IIM Jammu, with Prof. Sanjeev Singh, Medical Director, Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, during the Curtain Raiser Session on “Leadership with Healthcare Icons" on 10 April, visionary insights on the collaboration of institutions and interdisciplinary synergies of management, medical science, and technology were elaborated by Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, and Prof. Shakti Gupta, Honorary Distinguished Professor, IIM Jammu. They also highlighted “Seva Bhav” and “Out of Box Thinking" as essential attributes of medical administrators.
