KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, today visited the flood-affected areas of Sahar Khad and Sherpur to inspect the extent of damage caused by the recent spell of torrential rains and oversee the progress of restoration works being carried out to restore flood protection infrastructure.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner assessed the damage caused to embankments, roads and other flood protection structures due to heavy rainfall and flash floods. He took stock of the restoration measures being executed by the concerned departments and reviewed the pace of work on the ground.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the executing agencies to expedite the restoration works and ensure that all damaged flood protection structures are restored on priority to safeguard lives, agricultural land and public property from future flood-related risks. He emphasized adherence to quality standards while ensuring timely completion of the works.
ACR Kathua Vishav Partap Singh, Tehsildar Kathua Vikram Kumar and officers of the concerned departments accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the inspection and briefed him on the restoration measures undertaken and the progress achieved so far.
