- Basmati growers, rice millers, border tourism to be brought into enterprise fold under Mission YUVA
R.S. PURA: Mission Director (MD), Mission YUVA and Director, Employment, Harvinder Singh chaired a meeting here today to review the functioning of Business Help Desk R.S Pora. Reviewing the progress of the Mission YUVA in the sub-division, from where over 750 enterprise applications have been received so far, the Mission Director laid particular stress on bringing farmers and agri-entrepreneurs into the fold, with special focus on the GI-tagged Basmati growers and rice millers of the R.S. Pura belt.
He added that such units are to be taken up under the Nano vertical of the Mission and supported through the Agri Corpus Fund, under which collateral-free credit up to Rs. 10 lakh is extended to eligible entrepreneurs.
The Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer was directed to draw up a list of prospective units and to hold the first mobilisation camp within the month. The Mission Director also directed that Suchetgarh, an offbeat destination on the international border and home to the historic Octroi Post, be promoted through enterprise in the tourism sector. He said that local youth must be encouraged to set up food trucks and outlets catering to visitors under the MSME and Sunrise Sector component of the Mission.
The Block Development Officer, Suchetgarh was asked to identify suitable sites and prospective entrepreneurs. For the municipal area of R.S. Pura, the Executive Officer has been directed to create wider awareness among existing enterprises so that they may scale up under the Business Acceleration component of Mission YUVA.
The Mission Director further called for intensification of the Udyam Jagriti campaign so as to reach a larger number of Lakhpati Didis, and for students of the sub-division to be brought within the vertical of Neo Innovative Enterprises. He underlined the support of JKRLM in creating successful women entrepreneurs. He directed that Self Help Group networks be used to identify women with viable enterprise proposals and to carry such cases through to sanction and disbursement.
Banks were also asked to expedite the sanction and disbursement of pending applications and to ensure that cases requiring rectification are resolved rather than rejected, with deficiencies conveyed to the Business Help Desk or the Small Business Development Unit (SBDU) for correction so that no deserving applicant is left out.
The Mission Director impressed upon the field machinery the need to improve performance panchayat by panchayat, and directed that the next review of the Business Help Desk, R.S. Pura be taken up after a fortnight.
The meeting, among others, was attended by SDM R.S Pura, Anuradha Thakur; Tehsildar R.S. Pura, Block Development Officers of R.S. Pura, Miran Sahib and Suchetgarh, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer, representatives of J&K Bank and J&K Grameen Bank, functionaries of JKRLM, YUVA Doots and Motivators working across the panchayats and municipal wards of the sub-division.
