SRINAGAR: Paying a heartfelt tribute to the unmatched courage and supreme sacrifice of the heroes of the 1999 Kargil War, Aryans Group of Colleges organised its 10th Shikara Race on ghat number 18, Dal Lake, Srinagar, to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas. Dr Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges flagged off the race.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local youth, students and members of the community, transforming the iconic lake into a vibrant symbol of patriotism, unity and national pride.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges, said that Kargil Vijay Diwas is a timeless reminder of the courage and supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers. He said that during the 1999 Kargil War, 527 Indian soldiers laid down their lives to safeguard the nation's sovereignty, and their sacrifice continues to inspire every Indian.
Dr. Kataria further said that Aryans has been organising the Shikara Race for the past ten years to promote patriotism, national integration and respect for the Armed Forces. He added that the copyright awarded to Aryans Shikara app by Govt. of India is really remarkable. He added that Dal Lake and Kashmir symbolize the nation's unity and resilience, and such initiatives inspire the youth to honour the sacrifices of the Kargil heroes and contribute towards building a stronger, united and developed India.
Er. Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh, HoD, Civil said Aryans has around 2000 JK students studying in courses including Engineering, Law, Nursing, Pharmacy, Paramedical, Physiotherapy, MBA, BBA, BCA and other professional programmes. Aryans students which are not only academically strong but also doing very well in innovations.
Er. Rayees, Coordinator, Aryans added that Aryans students have organized 9 shikara races in past which also witnessed participation of hundreds of tourists. In past Aryans students have done many small innovations including “Shikara App”, “Solar Boat”, “Ramadhan App, “Android App, “eMunshi App” “Safety Helmet”, “Save Kashmir” & “Life Saving Glove” for the Valley.
It is pertinent to mention that Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed every year on 26th July to commemorate India's historic victory in the 1999 Kargil War under Operation Vijay. The day honours the unparalleled courage, valour and supreme sacrifice of the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces who laid down their lives while defending the nation's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
