PUNE: As part of Chatrabhuj Narsee School’s Champion Connect, an initiative that brings accomplished leaders and changemakers into meaningful conversation with the school community of Chatrabhuj Narsee School (CNS), Amanora Park welcomed Olympic bronze medallist and former World No. 1 badminton player Saina Nehwal for an inspiring fireside chat.
Hosted by Mr. Sujay Jairaj, Chairperson, Chatrabhuj Narsee School, the session moved beyond sporting accolades to explore the mindset behind sustained excellence. In an engaging and candid conversation, Saina reflected on the discipline, resilience and consistency that shaped her journey from a young badminton enthusiast to one of India's most celebrated sporting icons with students, parents and educators.
Adding a deeply personal dimension to the conversation was Mr. Sujay Jairaj’s long-standing association with Saina's journey, having previously produced the acclaimed biopic based on her life. Their exchange offered unique insights into the determination behind every milestone, the lessons drawn from setbacks, and the importance of remaining grounded while pursuing excellence.
The interactive format encouraged students and parents to engage directly with Saina, creating a thoughtful dialogue that was insightful, honest and often light-hearted. Questions ranged from handling pressure and overcoming failure to building self-belief, with Saina drawing from her own experiences to share practical lessons that resonated far beyond the world of sport.
Saina said, “ Schools play a vital role in nurturing talent. Following the session, Saina spent time interacting with students across the campus, including on the badminton courts, encouraging them to embrace challenges with curiosity, remain disciplined in their pursuits and recognise that meaningful success whether in sport, academics or life is built through consistent effort rather than instant achievement.
