JAMMU: In an innovative blend of fitness, social welfare, and environmental sustainability, the Eco Cycleture Foundation has announced the official launch of its flagship community initiative, “Fitness Da Langar.”

The grand launch ceremony will take place on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Auditorium Hall, Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.

Bridging Tradition and Modern Community Needs

The concept of Langar has long symbolized community, equality, and selfless service through the sharing of food. “Fitness Da Langar” adapts this timeless philosophy to address modern social and health challenges by serving the community through physical wellness, endurance building, and ecological restoration.

Inspired by the spiritual legacy and teachings of Guru Angad Dev Ji, the initiative is founded on the core principles of Kirat Karo (honest labour), Naam Japo (mindfulness and meditation), and Vand Chhako (sharing with others).

"Our mission is to foster a disciplined, drug-free, and medicine-free lifestyle across the region. Just as the traditional Langar nourishes the body, 'Fitness Da Langar' aims to nourish the mind, spirit, and environment through shared fitness activities and tree plantation," said Harpyas Singh, Director, Eco Cycleture Foundation.

Key Pillars of the Movement

1. Youth De-Addiction & Preventive Health

  • Tackling substance abuse and lifestyle-related diseases by engaging youth in endurance-building activities such as cycling and running.
  • Promoting a medicine-free and active lifestyle through structured community fitness programmes and physical discipline.

2. Environmental Stewardship & Tree Plantation

  • Combining fitness runs and cycling events with practical ecological initiatives, including dedicated "Seed Sowing" and "Planting Stops."
  • Building upon the Foundation's remarkable achievement of planting over 22,000 trees across the region.

3. Inclusivity & Oneness

  • Creating a welcoming platform for participants irrespective of caste, creed, gender, or religion, united by the shared vision of community health and environmental responsibility.
