SRINAGAR: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Wednesday welcomed the Yuva Sangam Phase-VII delegation from Maharashtra, led by IIT Bombay, under the Government of India’s Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) initiative.

The delegation was received by Prof. Anurag Misra, Director, NIT Srinagar, and Dr. Ashok Kumar, Nodal Officer, Yuva Sangam and Coordinator, EBSB Cell, NIT Srinagar. Faculty members Dr. Pramod Kumar, Dr. Hareesh, Dr. Brajendra, Dr. Nitika Kundan, Dr. Janani L., Dr. Dinesh and Dr. Pankaj, along with EBSB student volunteers, were present on the occasion.

Addressing the delegates, Prof. Anurag Misra encouraged them to explore Kashmir’s cultural heritage, traditions, technological progress and natural landscape. He urged the students to make the most of their visit, sharing the message, “Dil Maange More!”

Dr. Ashok Kumar highlighted the role of Yuva Sangam in promoting national integration, cultural understanding and mutual respect among young people from different regions. He emphasised that direct interaction and experiential learning help strengthen people-to-people connections and foster a deeper understanding of India’s diversity.

The programme is structured around the Five P’s—Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions), Pragati (Development), Paraspar Sampark (People-to-People Connect) and Prodyogiki (Technology).

The initiative provides participants with opportunities to explore Kashmir’s heritage, understand its developmental progress, engage with local communities and gain exposure to educational and technological advancements.

Faculty members and EBSB student volunteers will facilitate the delegation’s engagement with the Institute, local communities and the cultural and educational landscape of Jammu and Kashmir throughout their stay.

On Thursday, delegates participated in a yoga session, followed by a visit to the Dargah Hazratbal and explored the nearby market. They also visited the market along Dal Lake and experienced the scenic beauty of the lake through a memorable Shikara ride.

The visit seeks to strengthen ties between Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir through cultural exchange, experiential learning and interaction, in furtherance of the objectives of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative.
