JAMMU: Government College for Women, Parade, Jammu observed Kargil Vijay Diwas to honour the courage and sacrifice of the soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces who secured India's victory in the Kargil War of 1999.
The programme commenced with the National Anthem, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Principal Dr Naveen Anand. NSS PO Dr Atiya Syed delivered the welcome address, paying homage to the martyrs whose sacrifices continue to inspire every Indian.
The NSS Volunteers and NCC Cadets presented a patriotic song composed by Parwinder Singh. An NSS volunteer delivered a tribute speech highlighting the bravery and service of the Kargil heroes, followed by a dramatic skit depicting the valour and martyrdom of the soldiers and a poetic tribute to the fallen heroes.
Principal Dr Naveen Anand paid tributes to the martyrs and said Kargil Vijay Diwas is not merely a remembrance of military victory but a celebration of the spirit, discipline and commitment of the Indian Armed Forces. He urged students to imbibe patriotism, integrity, courage and selfless service and become responsible citizens dedicated to the progress and unity of the nation.
Dean Academic Affairs Prof Anjali Abrol interacted with the volunteers and encouraged them to maintain their dedication. NSS PO Dr Gurpreet Kour proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Principal, faculty members, participants, NSS Volunteers, NCC Cadets and the organising committee. The NSS Unit and NCC Unit of the college coordinated the event.
