In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

SHOPIAN: As part of its ongoing public outreach programme, J&K Police organised “Thana Diwas” across all police establishments of the district Shopian. On these occasions, DySP Headquarters Shopian accompanied by SHO Police Station Shopian held Thana Diwas at Fruit Mandi Shopian, while as SDPO Zainapora accompanied by SHO Police Station Zainapora, held Thana Diwas at Police Station Zainapora.

Similar programmes were organised across other police establishments of the district under the supervision of the respective jurisdictional officers. The programmes witnessed active participation from public representatives, members of trade associations and other respected citizens of the respective areas.

During the interactions, participants raised various issues of public importance. The officers assured them that all genuine grievances related to police matters would be addressed on priority, while issues concerning other departments would be taken up with the relevant authorities for prompt redressal. The officers also emphasised the need for collective efforts to curb the menace of drug abuse and narcotics trafficking. Participants were urged to cooperate with the Police by sharing information regarding drug peddling and encouraging youth to stay away from substance abuse.

Thana Diwas is an initiative of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir aimed at strengthening police-public relations and ensuring the timely resolution of public grievances through regular and meaningful interaction.
