  • DC Kathua leads cleanliness drive at Atal Setu

KATHUA: As part of the ongoing Sewa Parv celebrations, a special event was organized today at Basohli which witnessed enthusiastic participation of students, teachers, officers, employees of various departments and the general public.

The day commenced with a cleanliness drive at the iconic Atal Setu, led by Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, along with ADC Basohli Pankaj Bhagotra, CEO BBDA Babu Ram, Tehsildar Sagar Vishwa Karma, CDPO Rakesh Kumar, AEE PMGSY Deepak Kohli, AEE PHE Yogesh Sharma besides other officers and officials of different departments. A large number of locals also joined the drive, giving a strong message of community participation in cleanliness and environmental protection.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma spoke on the significance of Swachhata Parv and urged everyone to take active part in cleanliness campaigns not only during special drives but as a daily practice. He said that clean surroundings reflect a disciplined society and called upon students to become ambassadors of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in their schools and homes.

The DC emphasized that youth must come forward in larger numbers to spread awareness about sanitation, plastic waste management and water conservation. He underlined the importance of individual and collective responsibility in achieving the dream of Mahatma Gandhi’s “Clean India”.

He further highlighted that Sewa Parv is an occasion to dedicate ourselves to service of society, especially the underprivileged sections and urged citizens to adopt simple lifestyle changes like avoiding single-use plastics, planting trees and keeping public spaces clean.
