KISHTWAR: To celebrate the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, an awareness-cum-plantation drive was today organized in Kishtwar Town under the supervision of Deputy Registrar, Cooperative Societies Mirza Mumtaz Iqbal. Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Pawan Kotwal was the Chief Guest. He inaugurated the drive by planting saplings at a prominent park in the heart of the township, emphasizing the critical role of cooperatives in promoting environmental conservation and sustainable practices.

The awareness initiative focused on educating the public about environmental conservation and the importance of sustainability in long-term development. Attendees, including officials from the Department of Cooperatives, the Municipal Council,  as well as representatives from various cooperative societies and the general public, actively participated in the event.

A significant highlight of the drive was the collaboration with The Chenab Walnut Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) Cooperative, which contributed flower saplings for plantation. The initiative underscored the power of cooperatives as key drivers of social and environmental responsibility.

The event was held as a part of a series of activities planned across the District as part of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025 celebrations. The initiatives aim to reinforce the impact of cooperative societies in fostering sustainable development and community engagement.
