RAMBAN: On the second day of his tour to district Ramban, Prof. (Dr.) Ravi Jyee, Former Vice President and In-proto Vice Chancellor of International University-School of Medicine (TUSOM) and Chairman of the Afro-Eurasian Chamber of Commerce, Education, Development, and Employment (ACCEDE), visited the land subsidence area at Parnote to assess the situation and suggest preventive measures.

At the high-risk sinking area of Parnote, Prof. Jyee interacted with Brigadier Chirag Ghura, Chief Engineer Beacon, discussing possible stabilization strategies to mitigate future disasters. Emphasizing the need for long-term solutions, he suggested several measures, including massive plantation drives with prescribed tree species to prevent soil erosion. He also highlighted the importance of water source management and strengthening of the drainage system, which he identified as crucial in minimizing the risks of further land subsidence.

During his visit, Prof. Jyee interacted with local residents, sensitizing them about disaster and environmental management while encouraging them to adopt sustainable agricultural and horticultural practices. He stressed the significance of allied activities in boosting the region’s economic resilience and reducing vulnerability to natural disasters.

A globally recognized expert in disaster management, Prof. Jyee has made significant contributions in the fields of disaster mitigation, risk reduction, and emergency response strategies. His visit to Parnote underscores the importance of proactive disaster preparedness and collaborative efforts between experts, authorities, and local communities in addressing environmental challenges in the region.
