POONCH: In a strong affirmation of national unity and grassroots engagement, Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, visited the forward village of Khari, located along the Line of Control (LoC) near the Chakkan Da Bagh cross-LoC Trade Facilitation Centre, as part of Independence Day celebrations in Poonch district.

Earlier in the day, Rana hoisted the National Flag at the District Headquarters, Poonch, where he was the chief guest at the official Independence Day function, commemorating the 79th year of India’s freedom. Following the ceremony, Rana undertook a visit to village Khari that has endured significant challenges during periods of cross-border tensions.

During his interaction with the local residents, Rana expressed deep solidarity with the people of Khari, lauding their courage and perseverance in the face of adversity. He assured them that the government stands firmly with all border communities and is committed to address their concerns with empathy and urgency.

While reviewing the civic infrastructure and public services in the village, the Minister reiterated the Omar Abdullah-led Government’s focus on inclusive and sustainable development of border and remote areas. He highlighted that enhancing the basic infrastructure, improving access to essential services and ensuring the security and dignity of border residents remain key priorities for the administration.

Rana also visited the residence of the local Block Development Council (BDC) Chairman, recognizing the vital role of grassroots leadership in strengthening the democratic governance and rural development.
