JAMMU: BJP Jammu & Kashmir State Secretary Pawan Sharma today urged the Government to accord top priority to the long-pending public demand for strengthening and upgrading road infrastructure leading to the renowned tourist destinations of Patnitop and Sanasar, stating that improved connectivity is essential for unlocking the full tourism potential of these picturesque locations.

Pawan Sharma said that Patnitop and Sanasar are among the most important tourist attractions of Jammu & Kashmir, drawing thousands of visitors, adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers from across the country every year. Despite their immense tourism significance, the existing road infrastructure requires substantial improvement to ensure safe, comfortable and hassle-free travel for tourists and local residents alike.

He emphasized that tourism serves as a major source of livelihood for thousands of families associated with hotels, restaurants, transport services, handicrafts and other tourism-related activities in the region. Better roads would not only enhance the visitor experience but also provide a significant boost to the local economy and employment opportunities.

Sharma pointed out that the growing tourist footfall in recent years has increased pressure on the existing road network. He stressed that widening, strengthening and modernizing the roads connecting Patnitop and Sanasar should be taken up on priority to facilitate smooth transportation and promote sustainable tourism development.

The BJP leader further stated that quality infrastructure is the foundation of economic growth and regional development. He said that improved connectivity would encourage greater private investment in tourism infrastructure, adventure sports, hospitality and other allied sectors, thereby generating new opportunities for the youth of the region.

Pawan Sharma appealed to the concerned authorities to undertake a comprehensive assessment of the road network in the Patnitop-Sanasar belt and formulate a time-bound plan for its upgradation. He expressed confidence that with improved infrastructure, these destinations can emerge as premier tourism hubs and significantly contribute to the overall development of Jammu & Kashmir.

He reiterated that the aspirations of the local population, tourism stakeholders and visitors deserve serious consideration and urged the Government to address this important public demand at the earliest.
