JAMMU: BJP Jammu & Kashmir State Secretary Pawan Sharma today strongly criticized the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference government, accusing it of failing to provide transparent, accountable, and people-centric governance. He said that corruption, administrative inefficiency, and bureaucratic high-handedness have become major concerns across Jammu & Kashmir, leaving citizens frustrated and disappointed.

Sharma stated that the government came to power promising transparency, good governance, and accountability, but has failed to deliver on its commitments. He alleged that complaints related to revenue matters, civic services, welfare schemes, and development works continue to pile up, while ordinary citizens are forced to struggle for even basic services.

ā€œThe people of Jammu & Kashmir are increasingly feeling helpless as their genuine grievances remain unresolved. Instead of ensuring efficient administration and accountability, the government has allowed delays, favoritism, and bureaucratic arrogance to flourish,ā€ Sharma said.

He further criticized the government's priorities, stating that while people are facing corruption, unemployment, administrative delays, and poor public service delivery, the Omar Abdullah government appears more focused on political activities than governance.

ā€œIt is unfortunate that instead of addressing the genuine issues of the people and making ministers and administrative officials accountable, the government is more concerned about organizing and supporting a protest dharna at Jantar Mantar over the demand for statehood. The people expect solutions to their everyday problems, not political distractions,ā€ he remarked.

Sharma said that the demand for statehood cannot become an excuse to divert attention from corruption, misgovernance, and administrative failures. He urged the government to focus on improving public services, strengthening accountability, and ensuring that officials remain accessible and answerable to the people.

He demanded strict action against corrupt and negligent officials, the establishment of a time-bound grievance redressal mechanism, and regular public outreach programmes to restore public confidence in the administration.

Reiterating the Bharatiya Janata Party's commitment to the welfare of the people, Sharma said that BJP will continue to expose corruption, administrative failures, and anti-people policies wherever they occur.

ā€œThe people of Jammu & Kashmir deserve transparent governance, responsive administration, and justice without discrimination. BJP will continue to raise the voice of the common citizen and hold the government accountable for its failures,ā€ Sharma asserted.
