NEW DELHI: In a scathing rebuttal to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent comments, senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Er. Gulam Ali Khatana lashed out at Gandhi, accusing him of disrespecting the democratic mandate of the people and harboring an insatiable lust for power.

Khatana’s fiery response came during an event in Jammu, where he addressed Gandhi’s remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “direct connection with God” and the claim that the BJP government is run by Congress workers. “Those who believe in God are naturally connected to Him. This is a matter of faith, Mr. Gandhi, something you clearly cannot comprehend. You have no right to demean anyone’s beliefs. By repeatedly using the same rhetoric, you’re not just attacking the Prime Minister’s faith, but also the Constitution of India. Religion is a personal matter, and the citizens of India will undoubtedly hold you and your party accountable for disrespecting their beliefs,” he added.

Khatana did not mince words as he dismissed Gandhi’s comments as nonsensical and indicative of a leader out of touch with reality. “Rahul Gandhi says the NDA government at the center is being run by Congress workers. I advise him to see a doctor; he needs it. Rahul should read his speeches before making them. He makes a fool of himself every time,” Khatana remarked, ridiculing Gandhi’s statements.

The BJP leader went on to accuse Gandhi and the Congress party of being power-hungry, willing to say and do anything to regain control of the country. “The Congress party and Rahul Gandhi want to grab power and drag the country back into darkness. His desperation for power was on full display yesterday when he claimed that the NDA government, elected by the people of India, is being run by Congress workers,” Khatana said.

Khatana’s comments took a sharper edge as he challenged Gandhi’s logic, questioning why the Congress party would create obstacles for a government they allegedly control. “If the government is run by Congress workers, why are you creating hurdles? Whatever decisions the government makes, you divide people, you divide the nation. Your behavior clearly reflects your hunger for power, Mr. Gandhi,” Khatana added.

The BJP leader also criticized Gandhi for making empty promises to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, accusing him of exploiting their sentiments for political gain. “You are exploiting the sentiments of the masses in Jammu and Kashmir, despite having nothing in your hands. You promise the restoration of statehood to J&K, which has already been promised by Shri Amit Shah Ji, the Home Minister of India, on the floor of the house. Our party has fulfilled the promise of assembly elections, and the restoration of statehood will be our next step,” Khatana asserted.

Khatana further emphasized the BJP’s commitment to modernizing Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the Modi government’s efforts to bridge the gap between the people and the administration. “The BJP has given good governance. People see hope in the BJP, not in the NC-Congress alliance, which is an alliance of sins,” he said.

In a pointed message to Gandhi, Khatana defended the government’s decision to withdraw the lateral entry notification, stating that it was done with the welfare of all sections of society in mind. He advised Gandhi to stop manufacturing issues for political gain, warning that it would yield no benefits for the Congress party.

Khatana concluded his remarks with a fervent appeal to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, urging them to reject the nefarious designs of the Congress-NC alliance. “I once again appeal to the masses of Jammu and Kashmir: beware of the Congress-NC’s designs. They will push the region back into darkness if you fall into the trap they are laying to grab your votes,” he said, calling on the residents to strengthen the BJP’s position in the region.”
