SHOPIAN: As part of its ongoing efforts to ensure food safety and hygiene standards, the Food Safety Department Shopian, in coordination with Police, conducted a comprehensive inspection drive in the Heerpora area of the district today. During the inspection, various Food Business Operators (FBOs) were checked for compliance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act and Regulations.

The inspection team scrutinized food handling practices, sanitation levels, storage conditions and overall hygiene maintained at food establishments. The team observed deficiencies in sanitary and hygienic conditions at several establishments. Consequently, five Food Business Operators (FBOs) were recommended for action under Section 69 of the Food Safety and Standards Act for violations detected during the inspection.

The concerned FBOs were also strictly warned to improve cleanliness, maintain proper sanitation and adhere to prescribed food safety norms to safeguard public health. They were advised to ensure hygienic handling and storage of food items and to comply with all regulatory requirements.

The Food Safety Department in the district is protecting consumer health and stated that such inspection drives will continue across the district to ensure the availability of safe and wholesome food to the public. Citizens were also urged to report any instances of food adulteration or unhygienic food practices to the department for prompt action.
