JAMMU: The Department of Drugs & Food Control Organisation J&K conducted a major enforcement drive in Rajouri and Reasi districts against establishments dealing in intoxicating pharmaceutical preparations for illicit purposes.

Operations of six pharma establishments in Rajouri district and one medical shop, Shiv Shakti Medical Hall, in district Reasi, were disallowed on the spot under Section 22(d) of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940. Pregabalin-300 worth ₹12,045 was seized from Shiv Shakti Medical Hall. Further legal action under the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940 and rules framed thereunder will be initiated in due course.

The public may report incidents or information related to drug abuse or supply of pharmaceutical preparations being misused for addiction by retail or wholesale pharmacies at jk.drugscontroller@jk.gov.in or on Toll-Free Numbers 18001807194 or 104.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
