POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today undertook an extensive tour of Mendhar Sub-Division to assess the damage caused by recent floods and review the progress of restoration and relief measures being carried out by various departments.

The Deputy Commissioner inspected several flood-affected locations, including Mankote, Jungal, Mendhar Town, Chhatral Bridge, Salwa Bridge and other adjoining areas. He took stock of the damage to roads, bridges, public infrastructure and essential services, and interacted with local residents to understand the challenges they continue to face in the aftermath of the floods.

Sharma then visited Ari and Harni, where floodwaters had caused extensive damage to public and private property. He instructed the officers concerned to expedite restoration works, assess losses accurately and provide all possible assistance to the affected families in accordance with government norms. He also directed field officers to maintain close monitoring of vulnerable locations, remain prepared for any emergency and keep precautionary measures in place to safeguard lives and property.

Those accompanying the DC included SDM Mendhar Imran Kataria, Assistant Commissioner Development Shakeel Ahmed, Executive Engineers, Tehsildars, BDOs and other tehsil-level officers concerned.
