SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today met former Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri N. N. Vohra, in Srinagar.

The meeting was marked by a warm and engaging interaction, during which the two exchanged views on a range of issues concerning Jammu & Kashmir. The discussions drew upon Shri Vohra’s vast administrative experience and his deep understanding of the region’s governance, development and public affairs.

The Chief Minister appreciated Shri Vohra’s invaluable insights and perspectives on matters of public importance, while the two also reflected on various issues relating to Jammu and Kashmir’s progress and future priorities.

Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, was also present during the meeting.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
